Love the High Street - Wetherby

The final day of Love the High Street takes us to Wetherby.

The town is home to a number of independent shops and a regular market, but is perhaps best known up and down the country as the halfway point on the A1 between London and Edinburgh.

Wetherby's main shopping area centres around the Horsefair Centre which is home to some larger chain stores.

But there is also plenty of variety off the beaten track, with independent shops trading on streets like the Shambles.

There is a strong business community, with the town pioneering the popular #Wetherbyhour, a regular networking event run both on Twitter and in person.

This year, traders are hoping to encourage more people into the town centre to do their Christmas shopping.

The town will host its first festive lights switch-on for several years outside the Town Hall on 21 November at 7.15pm.

There will be a range of entertainment, with Wakefield Wildcats star Richard Mathers among the celebrities appearing.

All day today, we will hear about those plans and we will also be airing interviews with local traders.

Electrician Steve Kay is part of a team putting together this year's switch-on and explained the reasons for putting on the event:
