Council releases Tour road closure details

Further details of Tour de France road closures around Ilkley, Addingham and Burley-in-Wharfedale have been released by Bradford Council.

On Saturday 5 July, roads along the race route and junctions with side roads leading to it will be closed from 5.30am.

On Sunday 6 July, they will be closed from 6.30am.

It is anticipated that the roads will reopen during late afternoon on both days.

However, all road opening times are subject to change as planning for the event progresses.

Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use and cross the route before the Tour's publicity 'caravan' passes through.

Car parking will be set up for local residents who normally park on the roadside to keep the route clear.

Phil Barker, Bradford Council's assistant director of sport and leisure, said: "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for people in our district to be able to witness the largest annual sporting event on their doorstep.

"Whilst we are making every effort to not only ensure the race is a success and minimise impact on residents and businesses as much as possible, some people may need to change their travel plans or daily routines."
