Knaresborough is officially Yorkshire's 'best dressed' town for the Tour de France.

The accolade has been awarded after a competition was launched by tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire.

It received several e-mails nominating Knaresborough and said judging was based on the photographs and comments received, together with feedback from Welcome to Yorkshire staff and people in general who have seen the town for themselves.

Visitors can see decorations such as flags, bunting made from T-shirts, dozens of yellow bikes and even a house covered in red spots.

Killinghall is also celebrating after being named 'best dressed' village in the same competition.

Its decorations include a flock of sheep with green, yellow and spotty fleeces.
