The UK produces over 5,000 tonnes of asparagus every year, and with a season that lasts less than two months, that's some pretty heavy asparagus action condensed into a short space of time! Whether it's simple steamed with butter, or served with perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, WE believe the best asparagus comes from Gods own county... Yorkshire! And the icing on the cake (or the hollandaise on the asparagus... ) is that Class One Direct are helping to get it from field to plate in just one day!

Particularly proud of their asparagus this year, Class One Direct supply many restaurants, pubs and cafes around the Stray FM area, thanks to Tom, Sally and the team at Lodge Farm in Helperby, near Thirsk - Pasture Lane Asparagus.

Beth Parsons went to visit Helperby to meet Tom and Sally who run the farm along with Claire and Joe from Class One Direct to find out more about the short season of Yorkshire Asparagus.
