Yorkshire's World Meat Free Day

Today is World Meat Free Day, a celebration of food that, well, isn't meat. Why? Well it's to highlight just how much goes into the production of meat. According to the official website, one person can save the following by not eating meat:

  • As much carbon as boiling the kettle 388 times
  • As much water as 9 people consume
  • Two teaspoons' worth of butter

And that's just for a day!

Restaurants and food makers from across our area are taking the opportunity to celebrate fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as meat replacements... and the best thing is we can all waste 5 minutes looking at pictures of nice food. Here's some of our favourites:
