Harrogate's Jamie's Italian set to close

Published at 4:35pm 23rd January 2018.

Jamie's Italian in Harrogate has been rumoured to close for some time now, however, it's now being reported that it will be closing its doors for good this year.

Media outlets are reporting that 12 outlets of the national chain are set to close.

Harrogate's restaurant, based on Parliament street, is one of twelve facing the cut.

The other eleven branches reportedly being closed down this year include: Bristol, Kent, Chelmsford, Greenwich, Kingston, Milton Keynes, Piccadilly Diner, Reading, St Albans and Threadneedle Street in London.

The expected closure is said to happen some time in March.

This will leave 25 Jamie’s Italian sites in the UK.

It's all said to be part of a restructuring of Jamie’s Italian restaurant estate.

It also comes as rumours suggest over the years, that the chain has been facing financial trouble.

Jon Knight, CEO of the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group, said: “This was a not an easy decision but it’s a crucial step to ensure our strong and much-loved brand can continue to serve our loyal customers.

“We will look to redeploy as many staff as possible within the wider Restaurant Group. All staff impacted will be paid fully and all our obligations to them fulfilled.

"We’re incredibly grateful to the dedication and hard work of every single member of staff.”
