Foods to get you in the mood: Aphrodisiacs explored

Have you promised your partner you'll cook for them this Valentine's Day? Look no further than the following foods that could help take things up a level.

Maybe the most famous aphrodisiac of all is oysters. But don't necessarily think of raw, slimy oysters- try them fried in tempura batter for a light, crispy treat. Alternatively, you can poach them for a more indulgent meal. 

Asparagus can also help get you in the mood. True Foods recommend blanching the asparagus, boiling it three-quarters through then putting it into ice water. Served with poached egg and a bit of bacon, this meal is sure to impress - just start with the absolute freshest eggs possible!

Of course, no Valentines would be complete without some chocolate. Easy to prepare in advance, chocolate tarts and chocolate fondants could save you time on the big day - time better spent not in the kitchen!
