A good pub has a menu that offers classic food year round. A great one has a menu that uses in-season produce to make food you love to eat at any time of year.

Have you ever wondered how your local individual pub creates the perfect menu, where there's always something that hits the spot?

It's actually a more collaborative effort than you might think, bringing together pub managers, chefs and suppliers to consider what's in season, what there's a good crop of, and what customers want.

Class One Direct don't just supply food across the Dales, they're the supplier of choice to Individual Inns' pubs, like The Tempest Arms and The Fountaine Inn, and it's a much about their produce as it is about their community spirit.

In conjunction with a local primary school, The Fountaine Inn and Class One Direct run an Enterprise Club. The children learn about what's in season, marketing, taking orders and distribution, which improves not only their culinary knowledge but equips them with essential business skills - and a better understanding of healthy food!

Stray FM's Ben Franklin eavesdropped on a menu planning meeting with Class One Direct and Individual Inns, and you can hear all about it here:
