If you've walked along Montpellier Parade in Harrogate recently, you'll have seen work being carried out at the Spirit of Harrogate. The home of Slingsby gin is expanding, hitting the road with the Tour de Yorkshire and taking to the skies with Jet2.

Gin lovers from Harrogate and beyond are about to witness some very exciting changes at the Spirit of Harrogate and get the chance to design their own bottle of Slingsby gin too.

"We've doubled the retail space" explains mixologist Alex, who understandably is incredibly excited at the prospect of showcasing several new gin experiences.

"Not only can you learn about the full history of gin and discover how to become a cocktail master, but as a customer, you'll now be able to create your very own bottle of gin."

Which botanical is for you?

The Spirit of Harrogate has 8 micro-copper-stills so you can personalise your bottle of gin, alongside a wide range of botanicals, including some locally sourced ones such as Taylors of Harrogate should you wish for a hint of tea. The staff will also be on hand to guide you through the process and suggest flavours, but ultimately the choice is down to you and of course if you haven't the time to spare to design your own, there are still many gin samples available on the shop floor.

On your bike

The Tour de Yorkshire launches on 3rd May and the Spirit of Harrogate are immensely proud to be involved with the 4 day World class event. "It's the only time any of us will be at the front of a race" jokes Alex as he explains how the team will be riding ahead of the peloton in a bespoke Landrover Defender handing out Slingsby goodies.

The Spirit of Harrogate have also teamed up with Jet2.com and you'll now be able to purchase the Slingsby gin miniature 3-pack on board, plus at Leeds Bradford airport, Newcastle, Doncaster Robin Hood airport and Humberside, Slingsby gin is now available at the World Duty Free stores so you can stock up on your favourite tipple before jetting away on holiday.
