Eating a healthy diet might not be as hard as you imagine. Filmore and Union have helped you out with five simple food swaps that you can make your healthy eating week a doddle.

Whilst some healthy eating topics seem to change by the minute, somethings are pretty unquestionable.

Reducing sugar intake and eating a many whole foods as possible for example... no nutritionist would advocate a processed diet high in sugar.

The experts at Filmore and Union who have cafes and restaurants in  WetherbyHarrogateSkipton and Ilkley amongst other locations in the North of England, have given Stray five very simple swaps which will make healthy eating a doddle!

Five simple Filmore and Union food swaps

  1. Ditch the pork, have chicken instead - some cuts of meat, such as pork belly or bacon, have a lot more fat in them. How about swapping them for a lean protein such as chicken, turkey or white fish?
  2. Whole in one - whole foods are foods that have been processed a little as possible such as nuts, grains, seeds, fruit and vegetables. Up your intake!
  3. Plants are your friends - There isn't really a limit on how much fruit and vegetables you should be eating - the more the merrier! Do bear in mind though, that some fruit can contain a lot of sugar - things like bananas, mangos and  pineapple so eat less of these.
  4. You're sweet enough - sugar is the one area that can't really be argued with so anything you can do to reduce it, particularly refined sugar (chocolate, biscuits, cake etc), do it!
  5. Get the fats in - but the right stuff! Good fats (unsaturated) include foods such as nuts, oily fish, extra virgin olive oil, dark chocolate and avocado, whilst bad fats (saturated) include fatty cuts of meat, butter, ice cream and cheese. Reduce the bad, and up the good.
