When you think of pairing cheese with a drink, you might think of the complex art of wine tasting.

But with a rising number of craft breweries around Harrogate and the Dales creating beers with strong and complex taste profiles, from mango and passionfruit to chocolate fudge, wine is no longer the king of pairings.

From simple summer ales to sweeter beverages, there is something for everyone in the world of beer. Whether you're a seasoned drinker, or just curious, a beer tasting event at the Cedar Court Hotel might help you discover new beers, brewers and tastes.

One of a series of food and drink nights, the Beer and Cheese night will feature 6 beers and expertly matched cheeses. The line up includes 'Swoon', a chocolate fudge stout from the Revolutions Brewing Co., and Opaque Reality, a Mango and Passionfruit Milkshake IPA.

The event takes place on the 28th of June.

Stray FM's Ben Franklin had a taste with Mark, a brewer who will lead the evening, and Linda, the Minister of Fun at the Cedar Court Hotel:
