Local fresh produce supplier provides the Great Yorkshire Show with fruit for the Pimms so we've been looking deeper into the famous summer tipple.

If you've ever visited the Great Yorkshire Show, you may be familiar with the Black Sheep Beer tent who sell jugs of Pimm's by the thousands!

But of course no Pimm's would be complete nowadays without a good selection of fruit, something which fresh produce supplier Class One Direct knows all too well.

Did you know...

1. Pimm's is named after it's creator

James Pimms first produced the drink in 1823. He was a farmers son from Kent.

2. Pimm's started in an oyster bar

The drink was first sold in an oyster bar in the city of London not far from the Bank of England. It was sold commercially in the 1840s.

3. There have been seven types of Pimm's.

No. 1 Cup, the most popular version is based on gin. No. 2 Cup was scotch whiskey, No. 3 Cup was brandy, No. 4 Cup was rum, No. 5 Cup was rye whiskey and No. 6 Cup is vodka. Only No. 1 and No. 6 (small quantities) are still in production, but No. 3 Cup is available seasonably branded as Pimm's Winter Cup.

4. Mix Pimm's with sparkling wine or Champagne.

It's called a Pimm's Royal Cup... oh I say.

5. The traditional fruit accompaniment

Cucumber, orange and mint are the three most traditional pairings, but modern interpretations have made us big fans of strawberries, apples, raspberries, sliced grapes and even a stick of celery!

Class One Direct supply many restaurants, pubs, cafes and hotels across the North of England including Harrogate, Craven and Wharfedale with fresh produce including fruit, vegetables, dried goods, meat, fish and dairy products.
