Six places round here you can get the Bake Off feeling without the work
Published at 6:00pm 11th September 2018. (Updated at 10:40am 12th September 2018)
With the return of the Great British Bake Off, those of us lacking baking skills can feel left out. So we've put together a list of places in Harrogate, Craven & Wharfedale that do the baking so you don't have to.
Noel, Sandi, Prue and Paul are back baking in the tent, but if you want a showstopper on your table, it might be better to let the local experts do it for you.
The last thing you want is a soggy bottom or a dodgy bake.

So, where can you get the Bake Off effect round here?
Bettys - Harrogate and Ilkley
Yorkshire Craft Bakery
If you live round here, chances are you're aware of Bettys with their quintessentially English tea rooms, but did you know all of their fare is baked in their bakery in Harrogate by hand?
See, look, here's a Battenberg:
Cookery School
If it's traditional you're after you can't go wrong with Bettys. They even have a cookery school if you want to take the plunge and improve your baking.
Patisserie Viennoise - Otley
Theatre of Confection
Another traditional looking store front, this place describes itself as a "theatre of confection".
And the cakes they create certainly fit the theatrical bill.
Bespoke Cakes
The team at Patisserie Viennoise will create you a cake perfect for any celebration.
They'll even top them with another kind of cake if you like. Here they are piping traditional macaroons:
Cake'Ole - Skipton
Unusual Bakes
Now, we all know that some unusual ingredients can appear on the Great British Bake Off, but would anyone dare present Prue and Paul with Baked Beans in a cake?
It's not all unusual ingredients like that, but the cakes at the Cake 'Ole certainly have personality. Especially if you have a sweet tooth.
Your Favourites in a Cake
The Cake 'Ole will even theme around your favourites - love a particular sweet or chocolate? You're in luck.
Messy Buns - Ripon
Quaint Coffee Shop
Tucked away quietly in Ripon this is a hidden gem, with a whole host of tasty delights to indulge in.
Showstopping Unicorn
You can also get bespoke cakes created for any occasion, this unicorn that's been at the cookie jar is our particular favourite:
Mama Doreen's Emporium - Harrogate
Cupcake Creations
Looking for an indulgent treat to enjoy anytime? Mama Doreen's is your place, specialising in cupcakes.
Dreamy Drip Cakes
If it's a showstopping cake you're after, this is also the place:
PollieAnn Bakes - Wetherby
A relative newcomer to the baking scene, Pollie certainly isn't afraid to let big ideas shine.
Fortnite Fun
You know that game that all the young people are loving but you don't really understand? Polly doesn't either, but that didn't stop her making this amazing cake that will have WOWED a teenager:
Popular Pollie
Things are certainly going well for PollieAnn - just have a look how quickly her baked goods got snapped up:
The Great British Bake off is on Channel 4 every Tuesday night at 8pm.
Here's a sneak preview of tonight's episode, the dreaded BREAD WEEK.
