A community allotment in Otley which is available for local people of all ages to grow fruit and vegetables, is now also home to three rescued battery hens.

  • The project is aiming to tackle loneliness, encourage the consumption of locally grown food and educate local school children.
  • Volunteers are needed to help with gardening help, knowledge and food education
  • The allotment is located to the South of the town on Birdcage Lane, at the bottom of Johnny Lane.

Set up by the Otley Community Land Trust, people of all ages are welcome to lend a hand, eat some of the produce and enjoy the company of some new feathery family members.

Originally set up in July 2018, following lots of weeding, digging and preparation, the allotment is now all ready for the growing season to come.

A recent donation from the council has allowed the organisers to buy some seeds to get started, but further donations from the public are also hugely appreciated.
