How the Spirit of Harrogate  is a bigger part of the community than you realise

The Spirit of Harrogate might have become famous for their delicious Slingsby Gins, but are keen to remain a key part of the Harrogate community. 

  • Proud supporters of the Harrogate Bus Company initiative to provide free electric bus travel on Sundays.
  • Part of the Harrogate BID and keen to promote shopping on the local high street. 
  • Sponsors of the Stray FM Local Hero Awards.

So what is the Spirit of Harrogate doing to support the local community?

Well as it turns out, after Stray FM's Beth Parsons talked to Marcus Black from Spirit of Harrogate, quite a lot.

Free local electric bus journeys

On Sundays local people can now enjoy free electric bus journeys on selected routes in and out of Harrogate town centre. 

Originally a month long promotion with the Harrogate Bus Company during March 2019, the Spirit of Harrogate have agreed to fund the continuation of the free bus journeys until at least the end of July 2019. 

Free travel is available every Sunday on:

  • 2A and 2B from Bilton
  • 3 from Jennyfield
  • 6 from Pannal Ash.

The new Harrogate electric buses feature wireless phone charging points, recycling bins and wi-fi.

What is the Harrogate BID?

In November 2018, Harrogate got the go ahead to become a Business Improvement District (BID) following a vote with local businesses. 

The Spirit of Harrogate is part of the BID and understands the need for promotion of the town centre to encourage more visitors and local people to enjoy what the spa town can offer.

Stray FM's Local Hero Awards with the Spirit of Harrogate

Every year Stray FM celebrates the selfless achievements of local people through the Local Hero Awards.

Public nominations are collected for volunteers, fundraisers and inspirational people or groups who  rarely get recognition for the good work they do. 

Culminating in a black tie awards ceremony at Rudding Park on Wednesday 8th May 2019, the Local Hero Awards are supported by a variety of local businesses. 

The Spirit of Harrogate, home of Slingsby Gin, sponsors the Community Local Hero Award.
