Blind and partially sighted people in Harrogate and Ilkley are being offered more support to help make their lives easier.

The mobile Sight Loss Information Service, run by national charity Action for Blind People, will be visiting both towns this month.

As well as offering practical advice and support, it carries the latest technology and gadgets, from vibrating banknote detectors to talking microwaves and tin lids.

Neal Atkinson, from Action for Blind People, said: "Everybody is welcome to come along to visit us on the mobile.

"Whether you are visually impaired or know somebody who may be having problems with their sight, please pay us a visit and pick up information or ask us questions.

"Visitors can try out a wide range of daily living aids or the latest computer and magnification technology."

The Sight Loss Information Service itinerary:

  • Wednesday 18 November - South Hawksworth Street Car Park, Ilkley, between 10am and 3pm
  • Thursday 19 November - Prospect Crescent, Harrogate, between 10am and 3pm
