Fashionable fundraisers turn heads

Supporters of Ripley-based charity The PPR Foundation have put on their best hats to raise much-needed money for brain tumour research.

They attended a special event at Harrogate fashion store Snooty Frox to mark 'Wear a Hat Day' which brought in more than £1,600.

Since the charity was set up by Pam Roberts in 2009, she and a loyal band of volunteers have raised over £500,000 to fund vital work carried out by researchers based at St James's Hospital in Leeds.

In the UK, brain tumour research receives less than 1% of national cancer research spending.

Pam said: "This is the second year that Snooty Frox has generously hosted the 'Wear a Hat' event and we are very grateful to the store's owner, Hilary Haresign, and her staff for their support.

"Also, our thanks go to all the glamorous ladies who attended the event and gave so generously."
