A glittering fundraising event is being organised in aid of Harrogate's poorly youngsters.

Children's charity Variety will host this year's Crystal Event, which is an annual clay shoot and black tie ball held at Ripley Castle.

It's pledged to support The Rainbow Fund by raising £31,000 to buy a much-needed transport incubator for Harrogate District Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit.

Variety also wants to raise another £25,000 for refurbishment work in the children's outpatients unit, creating more space and reducing waiting times.

Charlotte Farrington, Yorkshire Regional Development Manager of Variety, said: "We're thrilled to have nominated The Rainbow Fund as our local fundraising cause for 2016. Harrogate District Hospital is a pillar of the local community, and we are delighted to do our bit to further its phenomenal work, and help Harrogate's children blossom and grow.

"We look forward to hosting the ever-popular Crystal Event next month, with guests able to enjoy two fabulous days of entertainment boosted by the knowledge that their funds will provide a positive, tangible difference to children across Yorkshire."
