People in Craven affected by dementia or worried about their memory will soon be able to benefit from a new advice service.

From April, a Dementia Support Worker from Alzheimer's Society will provide sessions twice a month at Dyneley House Surgery in Skipton.

The sessions will run on the first and third Tuesday, from 10am until 1pm, and offer 30-minute appointments to ensure that patients have as much time as they need to chat.

Dementia Support Worker Anne Cook said: "People affected by dementia often don't know who to talk to about their concerns or know how to access the support that is available to them. This service is about offering an accessible facility locally.

"It is a pleasure to partner with Dyneley House who have been leaders in general practice in providing of support to people with dementia and their carers and people worried about their memory. No concern is too small, we are here to help!"

Antony Radley, Practice Manager at Dyneley House Surgery, added: "Our partners and staff at Dyneley House are committed to providing the highest quality care and best possible outcomes for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

"We have adapted the practice to make the surroundings more dementia-friendly and now - working in partnership with the Alzheimer's Society - we will be able to offer our patients with dementia and their carers more face-to-face support."
