Most people will experience some form insomnia in their lives, and in fact, 10% of you are right now!

Typically, there are three types of insomnia:

  • Onset Insomnia - Difficulty falling asleep
  • Maintenance Insomnia - Difficulty staying asleep
  • Chronic Insomnia - At least three nights of interrupted sleep, lasting for a prolonged period of three months or more.

Harrogate Hypnotherapy helps people with a huge range of issues, including weight loss, relationship issues, and giving up smoking, but this month they're talking about insomnia (which is actually more common than you might think). There are huge differences in the way different cultures thinking about sleep - some European countries such as Spain regularly have siestas, and 200 years ago us Brits were commonly waking up for a few hours in the middle of the night to so things like play games, have family time and read books. 

Beth Parsons from Stray FM's Health and Wellbeing Show talked to Heather and John from Harrogate Hypnotherapy to get some tips for getting a better nights sleep.
