It seems to be a presumption that working in the care industry doesn't pay well. But doesn't that feel wrong? As a carer you're supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the community, a role which requires compassion, understanding and patience, and can at times be incredibly challenging... so how can it be poorly paid?

Home Instead based in Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk don't think it's right either, and have recently been accredited with being a Living Wage Employer - the only care provider across the Stray FM area to have this! Unlike many home care companies, they pay an above average hourly rate, include travel time, and provide a career ladder within the business.

But it's not only how Home Instead care for their staff that's been noticed. For the second year running HomeCare.co.uk have recognised the care they provide for residents in the community too by putting them in the Top 10 List for home care in Yorkshire and the Humber.

A huge congratulations all round for the team at Home Instead! Beth Parsons from Stray FM's Health and Wellbeing Show talked to Andrew and Sheena Van Parys about their award success.
