Around half of all care home residents suffer from some form of depression. And this isn't right.

Local company, Harrogate Diabetes Fitness, wants to make a change, and believes it's more simple than we think. Using a similar concept to this heart warming TV experiment...

Founder Jo Waite wants to bring a range of senior fitness classes to the residents of local care homes to improve their health and well being. Previously helping those with diabetes to stay fit, she is combining her fitness knowledge with her more recent work in the care industry and has seen a real gap in the market to help elderly people stay more active.

Movements and involvement can be tailored to individual capabilities, and whilst there's no pressure, there IS encouragement... and let's be honest that's something we could all do with from time to time when it comes to fitness!

Natural remedies which have been known to reduce depression include routine, goal setting, exercise, trying something new, staying social and having fun... all of which are part of a group exercise class
