Disability Action Yorkshire has launched its new website with a distinct feature allowing disable people to share their individual stories.

The new site has been specifically designed for disabled people, and those who support a disabled person and volunteers.

One of the new functions is the 'share your story' feature.

The aim is to encourage visitors to upload personal stories about their experiences of disability and, in particular, certain episodes whether they have been treated either well, or not so well.

Stray FM spoke to Jackie Snape, Chief Executive for Disability Action Yorkshire about why they introduced the new feature.

The feature will allow people to share both good and bad experience so that the charity and others can help to support them and make changes if needed.

The stories will be published on the website for others to view.

Jackie said, "People come to us because they want to share what's happened to them."

Additionally, the website gives visitors up-to-date information on a variety of subjects, including services provided by Disability Action Yorkshire, training, residential care, the Own Goals buddying initiative and technology for assistance.
