On the international day of happiness local Harrogate relationship coach Gabriel By Your Side has been investigating the link between happiness and successful long-term relationships for people in mid-life.

Tuesday 20th March 2018 is recognised as the International Day of Happiness so what better time to think about what makes YOU happy!

Perhaps it the first 'proper' day of Summer, perhaps it's the way your dog wags it's tail, perhaps it's your children when they're getting on... for once.

One of the biggest factors though in happiness is the impact of those closest to us. Our relationships.

How much do relationships affect happiness?

There have been many studies that link wellbeing, of which happiness is a part of, with the quality of relationships within someones life. In fact, in some cases it's been proved that the affect of good relationships is so strong it can have a bigger effect on mortality rates than good exercise!

Over the last ten years there has been a 23% increase in the number of people between the age of 45 and 65 living alone, currently standing at around 2 million people in the UK, and a number that seems to have coincided with increased feelings of loneliness or social isolation.

But being part of a strong, meaningful relationship is sometimes easier said than done. Finding the right person and 'making it work' should never be underestimated.

Could a Gabriel By Your Side event be the first step towards happiness?

Relationship coaching might seem like a daunting prospect for a variety of reasons, but if you're over the age of forty and are concerned you'd like to either improve or get more out of your long term relationships, there's a really simple first step.

Whether it's you who would benefit or someone you know, whether you're divorced, widowed, single or in a relationship, attending an event run by local Harrogate relationship coach Gabriel By Your Side could help in a range of ways; not least, the fact that you are not the only one who feels like this.
