Bradford District and Craven practice nurses win regional awards

Practice nurses win regional awards for outstanding patient care in Bradford and Craven Districts. 

Six ‘rising stars’ in practice nursing across Bradford District and Craven have been recognised for the outstanding care they provide at the 2018 General Practice Nursing Awards (GPN Awards).

The GPN Awards are held by NHS England to recognise the skills, expertise and dedication of practice nurses and support workers across Yorkshire and the Humber.

Five practice nurses and one assistant practitioner in general practice were nominated by patients, carers and colleagues in the West Yorkshire and Harrogate stage of the awards with three leaving with awards.

Patricia Crawley (pictured abover), practice nurse at Idle Medical Practice won the Practice Nurse of the Year Award, which recognised practice nurses that had gone above and beyond to deliver contemporary care for patients.

Paula Wray, practice nurse at Dyneley House Surgery in Skipton

Paula Wray (pictured above), practice nurse at Dyneley House Surgery in Skipton won the Rising Star Award. The award recognised practice nurses who were new to the role and who had chosen primary care for their career.

Roxanna Rashid (pictured above), practice nurse at Kensington Street Medical Practice in Bradford won the People’s Choice Award; a category that asked patients, carers and members of the public to nominate nurses who had made a real impact on their or their loved ones’ health and who had provided compassion care.

Claire Lord, a practice nurse at Primrose Medical Practice, Michael Nunn, an assistant practitioner in general practice from Parkside Medical Practice and Sarah Benn, a practice nurse from Windhill Medical Practice were all finalists.

Michelle Turner, director of nursing NHS Bradford District and Craven CCGs said:

“I’d like to offer my congratulations to all our winners and finalists in the 2018 GPN Awards.

“Practice nurses play an invaluable role in delivering high quality patient care and I’m delighted to see their dedication, skills and compassion for the local communities they serve recognised.

“We are incredibly lucky across our districts to have such talented people working hard for patients and I’d like to thank every member of our practice nursing teams for all they do in caring for the people of Bradford District and Craven.”
