Fancy a boogie?

Boogie Babes Child

5:12pm 14th May 2018

Boogie Babes is designed to boost a child's confidence and interaction through the medium of dance, song, play and a whole load of fun for both children and parents alike.

For many first born children, interacting with others for the first time can be a daunting prospect and so every Thursday at Coronation Hall in Boroughbridge, "Boogie Babes" takes place from 10am with the aim of improving a child's fitness but also coordination and confidence.

It's all about sharing

For Nikki Baum who runs the classes, the games they play at Boogie Babes teaches children how to share with others. For many attending, it's their first experience of playing with other children and so sharing props such as pom-poms and teddy bears is of paramount importance when it comes to improving their social skills.

Many of the games have been tried and tested for years by Nikki's sister who runs Boogie Babes in West Yorkshire.  The "sausage song" is one of Nikki's favourites and definitely hammers home the "fun" element to the classes.  Children and their parents gather round a huge multi-coloured parachute-style sheet and bounce foam "sausages" within it pretending it's a giant pan.

Classes not only run in Boroughbridge, but also in Harrogate at t he gymnastics club and Chatsworth dance centre.  Plus there's also a class at Wetherby social club.  Listen to the full Boogie Babes chat below.
