Home Instead Senior Care

Home Instead Senior Care of Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk provide care via their caregivers to the elderly, enabling older people to remain living independently in their own homes. Stray FM's Beth Parsons has been on call in Harrogate and Pete Egerton has been to Knaresborough.

Anne, who is the caregiver both Beth and Pete met, visits anywhere between 40-45 clients within a week and in some cases, 2-3 times a day for each individual.

During the calls, it may include helping the client get dressed, prepare breakfast and make sure they're taking their medication correctly. If general housework is required, the Home Instead staff will also make sure it's neat and tidy too.

Keeping active

The beauty of remaining in your own home with the assistance of Home Instead, providing you're able to do so, it encourages daily activity. For example, Judith whom Beth met in Harrogate, at the grand old age of 83 loves to walk into town to do her shopping and with the likes of Anne looking out for her, she still has great confidence to get out into the fresh air.

The same for Fred too; he lives between Knaresborough and Scotton and loves visiting the likes of Fodder in Harrogate. Plus Anne and the Home Instead team take him to the high street in Knaresborough to get his hair cut.

Knowing me, knowing you

Anne also explained to Beth and Pete during their visits that it's very important for both Home Instead staff and client to get to know each other over a period of time. With months, and in many cases years of understanding, the trust between both parties is firmly in place which makes for an easy and happy experience for all involved.

Listen to both Beth and Pete chatting to Anne from Home Instead.
