It's as good for the mind as it is for the body, and hot yoga could get you sweating more gently than most exercise.

There are many different types of yoga, but in Hot Yoga, it's not just the yogis who get warm - the whole room is heated too

The benefits aren't just for flexibility, the practice helps to clear the mind and find inner calm.

A class at Go Yoga

Hot Yoga is one of the many classes taught at Go Yoga, on Hornbeam Park in Harrogate.  The class has so many benefits, but one regular attendee credits it with managing her chronic illness:

"I was diagnosed with chronic fibromyalgia about 9 months ago.

"I decided to start Yoga because I wanted help with breathing techniques and also stretch my body.

"I was with a consultant rheumatologist... I went back to see him three weeks ago and he said 'I can't believe it, you've completed reversed it.'"

For others, the benefits aren't just physical:

"For me, it's very much the spirital path as much as the physical path.

"It's much more the spiritual nature of it - coming back to the breath, creating space in your life."

Beth Parsons from Stray FM's Health and Wellbeing show went to a Hot Yoga class at Go Yoga, under the instruction of Sophie Bickerdike and Suzie Thomas:
