When we asked Christopher Nixon Optometrists to come into the studio to talk about children’s vision, Chris wanted to give Dr Albert Day time to talk about November's Variety Show at the Royal Hall in Harrogate with all proceeds going towards the purchase of the RetCam3 Imager .
Premature babies are at risk of a sight threatening condition called Retinopathy of prematurity and this instrument aids its detection, then allowing for early treatment.
When a normal term baby is born, the retinal vessels are only just finishing their normal development and often finalise their development a few weeks after delivery. Its vitally important that this development is investigated in premature babies, as if the vessels develop abnormally, the chances of a retinal detachment are significant.
This camera aids detection and will be a positive benefit to the Harrogate District Hospital Eye department.
Variety
On Sunday 18th November, much needed funds will be raised at "The Big Variety Show" at the Royal Hall in Harrogate with both a matinee and evening performances, ranging from comedy, song and acrobatics, it has it all! You can book tickets now via the box office and Christopher Nixon Optometrists are delighted to sponsor the event, plus give you the opportunity to scoop four tickets for the night.
