Family Sunday lunches thriving in Skipton

Luxury Sunday lunches at Alexander's in Skipton are proving popular with families after they were introduced by the restaurant's new Head Chef.

  • Alexander's in Skipton now have a huge offering for Sundays, including roast beef, roasted leg of lamb and a 'Snacklette' menu.
  • The restaurant's new Head Chef Paul Cunliffe has introduced his take on Sunday lunches to the menu and is proving a hit with families.
  • Alexander's also offer a wide range of cask ales that vary depending on popular demand from customers.

Alexander's in Skipton are welcoming families for a broad Sunday offering, introduced by the arrival of their new Head Chef Paul Cunliffe in May.

The Sunday set menu at Alexander's is served from 1pm-7:30pm, giving diners the choice of two or three courses that include traditional Sunday roasts complimented with a selection of their A La Carte dishes.

With main courses including Roast Sirloin of Yorkshire Beef, Herb Roasted Leg of Lamb and Pot Roast Chicken Breast, Head Chef Paul is keen for customers to enjoy a variety of locally sourced meat:

"We've got a couple of butchers that we use, so we talk to them on a weekly basis to see if anything special is coming in... It's very much an ongoing process with the suppliers.

"We looked at sourcing great quality meat and how we make the gravy, (it takes three days to build the stocks up!) and just want to give someone who comes to Alexander's a great experience and atmosphere."

Alexander's Head Chef Paul Cunliffe started at the restaurant in May 2019 and was keen to introduce varied Sunday offerings to the menu.

Keen to have something on offer for children, the restaurant have smaller portions available as well as simple alternatives to the traditional mains.

Diners can also choose from the 'Snacklette' menu, which offers even more variety including halloumi bites, Parmesan cheese straws and crisp devilled whitebait.

No Sunday lunch is complete without the right drink to wash it down, and Alexander's offer a variety on their drinks menu to compliment their food.

Using local brewers such as Northern Monk, Magic Rock and Beavertown, as well as their own 'Goldies' lager named after a Skipton company of the past, Alexander's have something for everyone, as explained by Jacob Cross:

"At the moment we've got a massive range, from passion fruit beers, strawberry, all the way down to pilsners and stouts. So we've got something for any taste and to match anything on our menu that you may want to try."

Jacob also added how supporting local businesses is something that the restaurant wants to put an emphasis on:

"It's important for everyone in this area. You want to support local businesses and want them to support you and people in Yorkshire do support each other more than anywhere I've been before."
