The annual Christmas pantomime is returning to Harrogate Theatre for another year, with 'Snow White' set to open in just a few weeks.

  • The Christmas pantomime at Harrogate Theatre is set to return to the stage on Wednesday 27th November, with this year's production revealed as Snow White!
  • Snow White has been a year in the making, with preparations beginning after last year's Christmas pantomime of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' concluded in January.
  • Last year's production saw lead actress Harriet Hare recognised as 'Best Principal Girl' at the Great British Pantomime Awards 2019.

The ever-popular Christmas pantomime at Harrogate Theatre has been revealed as Snow White for 2019 as it returns to the stage on Wednesday 27th November.

After the success of Jack and the Beanstalk last year, which saw over 33,000 people through the door, the theatre is set to hold 76 shows of Snow White over 8 weeks throughout December and January.

In what is his 13th year co-writing the Christmas Pantomime, Associate Director at Harrogate Theatre Phil Lowe is looking ahead to what promises to be another fantastic year:

"The company is 33 in Snow White, so it almost doubles the full time staff at the theatre! We also have our Youth Theatre involved this year and we have three teams of dancers...

"They all have turned up now and the building's buzzing! There's a lot of work to do and I'd love a lot more time, but we don't have that... But it's coming together."

Christmas panto - Snow White
The Christmas pantomime at Harrogate Theatre will be Snow White, opening on Wednesday 27th November and running until January 2020.

The cast started rehearsals on Monday 4th November, with just three and a half weeks to bring the production together.

Head of Communications at Harrogate Theatre Rachel Auty is looking forward to welcoming the usual mix of families (of all ages!) and friends to what has become an annual Christmas tradition for some:

"We have a lot of families that come every year, and groups of friends, and we do say our panto is suitable from the ages of 3 to 103!

"Our sets are known to be absolutely outstanding, we've got a fantastic designer and a great cast."

Harrogate Theatre's own Harriet Hare was recognised for her performance in last year's Christmas pantomime, scooping the Best Principal Girl Award from The Great British Pantomime Awards.

Harriet played Jack in last year's production of Jack and the Beanstalk before travelling to Wimbledon for the National Award ceremony, hosted by Christopher Biggins.

Associate Director at Harrogate Theatre and pantomime Co-writer Phil Lowe said:

"We officially had the Best Principal Girl in panto in Great Britain, which is just amazing recognition for the hard work that the team at Harrogate Theatre put in every year."
