A brand new term of holiday language courses are returning to Harrogate next week, designed to equip you with the phrases you might need for a summer holiday.

  • Courses at Rossett Adult Learning are available in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Greek and even Japanese!
  • They are suitable for beginners, and are conversationally based.
  • Courses run during the day and evenings, and require no previous knowledge of the language.

'Holiday language for beginners' classes at Rossett Adult Learning are designed to give beginners usable phrases they can use when holidaying abroad.

Set to start this February, the 8-week courses are conversation-lead, meaning learners are able to put their skills into practice in a relaxed atmosphere.

Whether you want to learn Spanish, French, German, Italian, Greek or even Japanese (for anyone attending the Olympics in Tokyo this year!), the classes are designed to be fun and educational in a relaxed environment - it's not like going back to school!

Alain Le Bourdon, a french and multi-language teacher at Rossett, said:

"We try to help people be able to integrate into the society that they're going into and talk to people around them.

"We're going to do some reading but most of it will be listening and speaking, so that people will build confidence in speaking."

So what are the most frequently needed phrases on holiday? Surely this must be a popular one...

How many of these countries can you ask for a beer in?

    • Italy: Una birra, per favoure
    • France: Une biere s'il vous plait
    • Spanish: Una cerveza por favor
    • Germany: Ein bier, bitte
    • Greek: Mea bira parakalo
    • Japan: Nama biru kudasai
    • Portugal: Uma cerveja, por favour
