Bus services previously operated by Eddie Brown Tours in the Harrogate area will continue, but with changes to the timetables and providers.

North Yorkshire County Council stepped in after the company withdrew from services with only a day's notice earlier this month.

The current timetable for services 56, 57 and 58 will be operated by Transdev until Monday 5 January, when a new timetable will be introduced.

Those services will also be taken over by Harrogate Coach Travel.

Services 142 and 143 will continue to be operated by Harrogate Coach Travel until 5 January, when a new timetable will be introduced and Transdev will take over the services.

County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, North Yorkshire's Executive Member for Passenger Transport, said: "The withdrawal from these services by Eddie Brown Tours came out of the blue.

"We have had excellent cooperation from our other contractors in the area, and to secure continuity of these services, we have agreed with the contractors that the most appropriate action is to introduce new services from 5 January.

"We apologise for the short notice of these changes."
