Police officer bitten by Harrogate suspect

A police officer has received medical treatment after being bitten by a suspect Harrogate. 

Officers were called to a disturbance on Avenue Grove at around 8.50pm on Friday.

A police spokesperson said: "A 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of breach of court bail conditions and taken to Harrogate custody suite. 

"While at Harrogate police station, a woman police officer was bitten by the suspect. The 16-year-old was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting a policing officer and later charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. 

"She is due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 2 May. 

"The officer received medical treatment for a bite wound to her arm."
