Extraordinary people from Harrogate, Craven and Wharfedale have been honoured at Stray FM's Local Hero Awards.

More than 300 guests attended a glittering ceremony at Rudding Park Hotel on Wednesday night.

There are some truly exceptional stories, including volunteers who work tirelessly to help others and a woman whose family have suffered extreme difficulties, such as being held hostage by robbers and the sudden death of her husband.

Ripon's very own Olympic champion Jack Laugher and his diving partner Chris Mears were presented with a Global Achievement Award to recognise their achievements.
