A businessman from Pateley Bridge is celebrating his birthday at Buckingham Palace.

Keith Tordoff, who is Chairman of Nidderdale Chamber of Trade, says he's "absolutely overjoyed" to have been invited to the Queen's Garden Party.

He was chosen to join Her Majesty for tea, sandwiches and cake after his tireless work to boost the local economy and Pateley's profile as a tourist destination.

Last year, the town won its category in the Great British High Street Awards.

Speaking about his Royal appointment, Keith said: "It's not just recognition of myself, it's recognition of Pateley Bridge, which I'm really pleased about.

"When I go to Buckingham Palace, I'll be telling people all about Pateley Bridge, and if Her Majesty does speak to me, I shall be saying that she's really welcome if she'd like to come and visit us in Nidderdale and Pateley Bridge."
