High temperatures to remain until Wednesday

Much of Yorkshire experienced its hottest day of the year so far yesterday.

Temperatures hit highs of 28 degrees Celsius in Harrogate and 25 degrees in the Dales, bringing large crowds of people out to events like Harrogate's 1940s day and the Otley Carnival.

Despite a blip tomorrow, the heat-wave could be with us until Wednesday at least, all be it with cloudier skies.

Steven Keates from the Met Office told Stray FM:

"There's some high temperatures to come at times this week.

"It looks like today could well be the warmest day of the next few but Wednesday also looks very warm."

For people for whom the weather is just too warm, Stephen added: "Relief is on the way by the end of the week.

"I think by the time we get to the weekend it's going to be a bit more changeable.

"It's going to be cooler, it'll be breezier, the winds will be coming in more from the west to north west as opposed to the south so temperatures won't be nearly so high.

"Temperatures probably down to about average for this time of year so high teens, perhaps just into the 20s."
