Otley are preparing to celebrate the 300th birthday of its famous son Thomas Chippendale.

He lived in the market town with his family until he was 10 years old.

Next June marks the furniture makers anniversary - so the Town are hosting a series of events.

Ideas ranging from historical expert speakers, Chippend'Ale beer, antiques fair and a party, are being talked about for 2018.

The committee involved includes members of Otley Town Council, Otley Town Partnership, Otley BID, Otley Pub Club and Otley Courthouse arts centre.

Councillor Ray Georgeson is urging the public to get involved with planning: "The easy way to get in touch is to drop me an email, so just go onto the Otley Town Council website.

"If you do have any ideas please come to us because our ears are wide open.

"My experience is that when you ask Yorkshire folk for ideas, they come forward and tell you."
