Cyclists are being encouraged to saddle up for the very first Great Nidd Bike Ride.

It's set to start and finish in Birstwith on the 23rd September, and is a family fun sponsored cycle ride.

It's all in aid of Alzheimer's Research UK.

Organiser Sean McPartland says the cause is close to his heart especially since his Father-in-Law passed away from the disease last year.

He wants to raise as much money as he can for the charity.

Sean is trying to get more people involved with the ride later this month.

He says the sights are some not to be missed: "Some of the views you get going down the Nidderdale Valley are stunning, and obviously you get the history as well when you go past Fountains Abbey.

"It really is a fantastic way to see the Nidderdale region.

"There's still plenty of space for people to enroll."
