Commuters in Yorkshire are being warned of possible travel disruption this morning with a weather warning in place until 10.00am.

Storm Aileen has battered the region overnight, forecasters had warned of gusts up to 75mph in some exposed areas.

So far, we are aware of a few minor incidents.

One driver was caught out by standing water on a rural road near Ripon:

Winds have also brought down trees:

Drivers are being urged to allow extra time:

Motorists heading north across the Dales were being warned about flooding after part of the River Ure burst its banks.

The A684, between Bainbridge and Aysgarth was affected this morning (pictured above).

There have also been reports of isolated power cuts in some parts of North Yorkshire.

Engineers are in the process of restoring supplies.

Drivers are being urged to take extra care on motorways and major A roads overnight and tomorrow morning during Storm Aileen.

Highways England has issued an amber ‘be aware’ alert across the country in response to a Met Office forecast of strong winds and heavy rain.

It's due to start at 9pm tonight and run until 9am tomorrow morning.

Drivers are being warned it generally takes at least twice as long to stop on a wet road as on a dry road because tyres have less grip on the surface. In wet weather you should:

• Slow down if the rain and spray from vehicles is making it difficult to see and be seen.

• Keep well back from the vehicle in front as this will increase your ability to see and plan ahead.

• Ease off the accelerator and slow down gradually if the steering becomes unresponsive as it probably means that water is preventing the tyres from gripping the road.

Drivers of lorries, caravans and motorbikes are being advised to avoid the following exposed sections of motorways and major A roads during Storm Aileen:
