Belmont Park play area in Starbeck is going to close for five days next week to allow for improvement work.

From Monday to Friday, new equipment will be installed, including a swing, talk tubes, wind chimes and a rainmaker.

The improvements to the popular play area in Belmont Park have been funded with a £12,000 award from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.

The scheme uses funds raised by the 5p plastic carrier bag charge, which was introduced lasy year.

Projects are then voted for at local Tesco stores.

In November 2016, Starbeck in Bloom's plans to provide the swing and talk tubes for the play area at Belmont Park won the day at the Tesco Express store on Knaresborough Road in Starbeck.
