John Lewis unveils new Christmas advert

Moz the monster John Lewis

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 8:10am 10th November 2017. (Updated at 8:38am 10th November 2017)

The John Lewis Christmas advert is finally here and it looks like fans were right...

#MozTheMonster is trending on social media this morning!

It features a little boy called Joe who starts off a bit scared of a monster under his bed, but soon treats him as a playmate.

Be prepared to reach for the tissues though, when Moz realises it is time for him to go and let the little boy grow up.

As you would expect, it comes complete with a moving soundtrack - Elbow covering The Beatles song 'Golden Slumber'.

So without further ado - here is the new advert!

John Lewis's Customer Director, Craig Inglis, told The Daily Mail: "This year's Christmas campaign brings to life the power of children's imaginations and the joy of great friendships.

'Moz and Joe's story is magical and heart-warming and I'm sure it will be loved customers, young and old".

The advert was released on John Lewis's YouTube channel on Friday morning.

The retailer has described it as: "This is the story of a little boy called Joe who befriends a noisy monster under his bed".

Bosses have even created a Facebook filter which lets you turn into Moz the Monster and you can read more here.

Twitter went into meltdown earlier this week, after fans discovered what they thought was a teaser.

A page called UnderTheBed was created on social media and the only post was a short four second clip.

It featured a creature with big googly eyes, who we now know is Moz, with the hashtag #UnderTheBed.

Earlier this week we asked John Lewis if it was their handy work, but a spokesperson said: "We never comment on speculation as we don’t want to ruin the surprise".

On Thursday, the retailer told fans that it would be soon be launching the high-anticipated 2017 ad on Twitter.

But was the surprise already ruined?

On Thursday, a toy with a striking resemblance to the creature from the UnderTheBed teasers appeared on the shelf of a John Lewis store.

Well, Moz the Monster is definitely adorable but does he beat Buster the Boxer?
