Andrea Bradley's head shave for Dementia Forward

A woman has taken on a fundraising challenge which is a cut above the rest to raise money for Ripon-based charity Dementia Forward.

Andrea Bradley had her hair shaved off by actor John Middleton at Harrogate salon Dangerfield and Keane on Monday.

John hit the headlines with his moving portrayal of former vicar Ashley Thomas suffering from dementia in TV soap Emmerdale.

Andrea decided to raise £500 for the charity which supported her as she cared for her mother, Elaine Scaife, who suffered from vascular sementia for around four years and died in 2014.

She's already beaten her fundraising target, with more donations still being made.

Gerri Keane, owner of Dangerfield and Keane, said: "Dementia Forward is a fantastic charity. The salon funds its Singing Therapy weekly session at Christ Church, so we were happy to support Andrea in her brave fundraising feat!"
