Harrogate teenager to walk to London to raise awareness of mental health

A teenager from Harrogate is gearing up for a charity walk from Leeds to London.

Chloe Bellerby was diagnosed with depression last year and wants to raise awareness of the condition.

In April she is hoping to raise £10,000 for the mental health charity MIND by walking 195 miles to London.

Speaking about why she took on the challenge, Chloe said:

"I don't think many people know about mental illness in school.

"A lot of kids feel down or don't know how to speak out about something, but they don't associate it with a mental illness.

"If schools did have something in place then they could get the support the need."

The 17-year-old will also travel to America in July next year to take up a soccer scholarship.

She has been part of the Harrogate Town Ladies team since it began last year.
