North Yorkshire Police bring Christmas to children in hospital

North Yorkshire Police raise money for Children in hospital - Teddy Bear

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 11:06am 7th December 2017.

North Yorkshire Police have set themselves a Christmas Challenge to help bring a cuddly present to every sick child in hospital this festive season.

The Christmas Challenge 2017 is targeted to raise £750 or more in the lead up to Christmas.

North Yorkshire Police want to be able to give every child spending Christmas in a North Yorkshire hospital a Police teddy bear.

The Mayor of Harrogate, Anne Jones has already donated:

Their Christmas Challenge came about because they couldn't imagine what it must feel like for a child to have to spend Christmas in hospital.

Could you imagine being away from your home and family this Christmas at such a young age?

North Yorkshire Police also want to let the children know they are thinking of them and that they are not alone.

The idea of the uniformed teddy bear came about due to the excitement children feel when talking to a police officer and seeing police uniforms.

North Yorkshire Police thought the special gift would bring that feeling to them this Christmas.

The bears have been touring the force, prior to being delivered to children across North Yorkshire's hospitals.
