Another club night confirmed for those with learning disabilities in Harrogate

Harrogate event at The Viper Rooms for adults with learning disabilities

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 1:15am 16th December 2017.

An exclusive night club event in Harrogate for adults with learning disabilities has been given the go ahead to return in the New Year.

The night club event is organised by Senior Support Worker, Lindsey Heaton.

It first made an appearance in Harrogate after The Viper Rooms agreed to host the night at their club on 17th November 2017.

The event proved to be a huge success, leading to the confirmation that it would be back in the New Year!

The date for the next event has been confirmed for 19th January 2018, at The Viper Rooms in Harrogate.

Lindsey hopes the event will return every 2-3 months, starting in the New Year.

She was pleased to see people from different parts of Yorkshire attend.

A service user said: "The viper night was so good, we all had great fun and I cannot wait to go again."

The reason Lindsey wanted to start the event in the first place was because many adults she supports would love the opportunity to go to a night club, however she says they feel nervous about doing so.

This is why the event is exclusive to adults with learning disabilities.

She wants them to be able to do everything they want to do without feeling judged: "It was so lovely to see the excitement and enjoyment from everyone who attended the viper night.

"The feedback I have received from this event has been unbelievable.

"It is something that we will be definitely holding regularly with The Viper Rooms and hopefully in the near future start opening up these events further afield.”

The Viper Rooms commented: "All our staff thoroughly enjoyed the evening and we would like to offer a huge congratulations to Lindsey for organising the event.

"It was fantastic to see everyone having such a great time and we can't wait until the next event!"
