Best of Skipton and Beyond Awards - Andrew Howick

A well-known firefighter in Grassington has retired after 22 years of service.

Watch Manager Andrew Howick originally started as a volunteer in 1995, when the fire station consisted of just a small garage.

His passion and enthusiasm resulted in it eventually becoming a retained fire station with a brand new building and fire engine.

Although he'll no longer be responding to emergency calls, Andrew will continue working in his full-time job, which is running a coach company based in Hebden.

He told Stray FM about his rewarding career as a firefighter:

In October, Andrew's dedication and long service was recognised with the Lifetime Achievement Award at Stray FM's Best of Skipton and Beyond Awards.
