Stray FM skill added to Amazon's Alexa enabled devices making it even is easier to listen to the Proper Local Radio station for Harrogate, Craven & Wharfedale.

If you're one of the lucky people to unwrap a brand new Amazon Alexa enabled device, like an Echo, Fire tablet, Fire Stick or perhaps even a car, then you're in luck!

Stray FM is now available as a "skill" for Amazon Alexa devices.

If you follow a few setup steps you'll be able to say "Alexa, play Stray FM" and your favourite radio station will play.

How to get Stray FM on your Alexa device

Firstly you'll need the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet.

You'll get two options, one for "Stray FM" and one to enable the "Flash Briefing". We're just putting the finishing touches to this skill, so in the New Year you'll be able to get all the latest news for Harrogate, Craven & Wharfedale whenever you want it.

Enable the Stray FM skill.

Stray FM is part of UKRD and the group is planning to roll-out the service across all stations over the next month or so.

Group Chief Technology Officer, James Wenger, described the launch and roll-out as: "All part of the group’s ongoing commitment to developing services that ensure that all of UKRD’s stations can deliver valuable content and information to their listeners and customers across all platforms they wish to use.

"People using an Amazon Echo or Alexa Fire device, simply install the flash briefing skill and they’ll get daily or weekly local news updates direct from the station as they request them.

“This is all about enhancing the service which great local stations provide to their communities and making trusted, reliable news, sourced through our excellent team of journalists, freely available on demand.

"This is an exciting development for our stations and, as sourcing local news and information becomes ever more important to local communities, we are determined that UKRD’s stations will be delivering what matters, whenever its requested on these increasingly important devices".
