LISTEN: Knaresborough celebrates 50th Boxing Day Tug of War

Knaresborough tug of war on Boxing Day

Published by The Stray FM News Team at 1:01am 26th December 2017.

The Half Moon Free House and The Mother Shipton Inn field two teams each, one with 8 men and one with 8 women, to pull a rope across the River Nidd at Low Bridge every Boxing Day.

Today is the return of the almighty Knaresborough Tug of War event.

It starts at 12 noon.

It's taken place every year without fail even when, due to the river being in flood, it's had to take place along Abbey Road itself instead!

This year's charities are Saint Michael's Hospice and Autism Angels.

Volunteers from both charities will be collecting donations from the crowd.
