After 15 years, one of the most iconic voices on Stray FM has read his final bulletin for Harrogate, Craven & Wharfedale.

If you've lived and worked in the area for any period of time in the last two decades it'll be a voice you've become very accustomed to.

Stray FM news stalwart and all round top journalist, Patrick Dunlop, today read his final bulletin on Stray FM.

As the clock struck 2pm, presenter Beth Parsons introduced his final round up of the top stories, as Patrick, or Paddy as we know him, did his thing one final time.

You can listen to the bulletin here:

During his fifteen years at Stray FM, Paddy has been through a lot. From running marathons, to throwing himself out of planes, from bed races to big interviews and through the reign of four Prime Ministers, he's been a constant it a topsy-turvy world.

Asked for his biggest highlights from the decade and a half at Stray FM Patrick said: "The Tour de France definitely sticks out. Also helping to launch The Rainbow Fund, when we managed to bring in £31,000 in just one day to benefit poorly children in Harrogate and so many more it would be impossible to list.

"Most of all though, it was meeting the thousands of people who've contributed to Stray FM's local news coverage for Harrogate, Craven and Wharfedale."

Patrick leaves Stray FM to join the Yorkshire Ambulance Service as Senior Media Relations Officer, a role which the team at Stray FM couldn't be more thrilled for him to hold.

Having recently trained as an Emergency First Responder for the Harrogate area, the role couldn't be a better marriage of his journalism experience and passion for helping others.

Stray FM's Managing Director, Sarah Barry, said: "I don't know what to say. Patrick has been an institution across the airwaves of Harrogate, Craven & Wharfedale for the last fifteen years.

"Some of our team in the office listened to Patrick reading the news on their way to primary school, which just reinforces the impact he's had on people's lives over the years.

"We couldn't be prouder of his new role and we're sure we'll continue to work with him to cover the excellent work of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

On behalf of all the Stray FM team, we wish him all the best for the future."

Patrick can take Stray FM news with him, wherever he goes, as you can, by downloading the Stray FM App.
